Terms of Use

LCM is a local-media, business-discovery and advertising platform. The Site helps visitors discover local businesses and places, read community and editorial content, review job opportunities, browse offers and Digital Editions, and contact LCM.

You may use the Site for lawful personal, community and business-information purposes. You are responsible for how you use information obtained through the Site and for confirming important details before relying on them.

You must not attempt unauthorized access to the Site, Admin area or private systems; interfere with security or operation; introduce malicious code; impersonate another person or organization; submit fraudulent, deceptive, unlawful or harmful material; use automated tools in a way that damages or unreasonably burdens the Site; or use Site content in a way that infringes another person’s rights. This does not prohibit ordinary search-engine indexing that LCM permits.

LCM may publish information about businesses, places, organizations and services. Information may be supplied by the listed organization, drawn from publicly available sources, developed through editorial research or obtained from other appropriate sources. A listing or editorial mention does not by itself mean the organization is an advertiser, sponsor or formal LCM partner, has endorsed LCM, or has verified every detail. Please confirm hours, prices, accessibility, availability and other important information directly with the relevant organization.

Articles, guides and community information are provided for general informational purposes. Facts and circumstances can change, and reasonable errors may occur. LCM may correct, update or remove content. References to an organization, event, opinion or external source do not necessarily imply endorsement. Third-party source material remains subject to the rights and terms of its owner or provider.

LCM is not the employer merely because a job appears on the Site. We do not guarantee that a position remains available or that listing details, compensation, interviews, hiring decisions or employer conduct will meet a visitor’s expectations. An “Apply” click is not a completed application. Applications may continue on an employer or third-party website, and users should verify important employment information with the employer.

Participating businesses are responsible for their goods, services, offer terms, eligibility, restrictions, availability and fulfilment. Unless LCM expressly states otherwise, LCM is not the merchant and does not process payments or redemptions, and any transaction is between the visitor and the business. Where content is identified as sponsored, featured, promoted or advertising, that designation may indicate a commercial relationship. Ordinary editorial coverage or directory inclusion should not automatically be understood as paid promotion.

Maps, coordinates, addresses and directions may rely on third-party services or data and can be incomplete, inaccurate or change over time. Use reasonable judgment and verify important destination, access and safety information before travelling.

LCM Digital Editions and QR-connected pages may direct visitors to business profiles, stories, jobs, offers, advertising information or other LCM content. Online content associated with a printed item or QR code may be corrected or updated after the physical material was produced.

The Site may link to business websites, phone applications, map and navigation services, job application destinations, article sources and other external services. Those destinations are outside LCM’s control and operate under their own terms and privacy practices. LCM is not responsible for their operation or content merely because the Site links to them.

If you contact LCM, provide only information and materials that you are authorized to provide. Do not impersonate others or submit unlawful, deceptive or malicious content. You retain ownership of your materials. You give LCM a limited permission to review, reproduce and use submitted business materials only as reasonably needed to evaluate or fulfil the listing, advertising, sponsorship or partnership request you make.

The LCM name, logo, Site design, original articles, graphics, Digital Editions, photographs and other original materials are owned by LCM or used with permission, subject to applicable law. Third-party trademarks, business logos, photographs and other materials remain the property of their respective owners. Nothing on the Site transfers ownership of those rights to a visitor.

We work to keep the Site useful, but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, complete accuracy, or the performance or availability of any business, employer, offer or external service. Site content is not legal, financial, medical or other professional advice. Obtain appropriate advice for decisions that require it.

The Site and its content are provided on an “as available” basis. To the extent permitted by applicable law, LCM disclaims warranties not expressly stated in these Terms and will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss arising from use of the Site or a third-party transaction. Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty, right or liability that applicable law does not permit us to exclude or limit.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify LCM against reasonable claims, losses and costs resulting from your unlawful use of the Site, infringement of another person’s rights, or materials you submitted without authority.

LCM may correct, update, unpublish, suspend or remove content and may change or discontinue Site features. We may update these Terms as the Site, our services or applicable requirements change. The “Last updated” date identifies the current version.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the applicable federal laws of Canada. If a provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue. These Terms and the policies they reference form the agreement governing use of the Site.
